Faith

Urge a freight train
and it’s hard to get off
the rails.

Closeness a need like a dog’s –
they wait day and night outside,
as close as possible
risking wrath
breaking rules.

To be faithful, all other rules
stretch out of shape.

I don’t think
I can be any different,
no matter what
Rumi or Gandhi
or God
exhort.
